Top tips for a perfect visit
Make sure you don’t miss a single minute of the action. Leave plenty of time to get to the venue and through security before taking your seat. M&S Bank Arena will be open around 1 hour before session start times – check the competition schedule for more details and remember that all timings are subject to change so check back nearer the time. You will be asked to go through a scanner on entry to the Arena and may be subject to a search. For the safety and security of all, and to minimise queuing times, the Arena asks that customers do not bring bags if possible. If a bag is absolutely necessary and for essential items only, customers are allowed to bring one small bag no larger than A4, ideally this would be a clear bag to allow for quick and hygienic security searches.
Exemptions are allowed for medical purposes or for customers bringing changing bags for babies and young children. Suitcases, large handbags, backpacks/rucksacks are strictly not permitted. Please note there are no left luggage facilities on site for storage of bags. Please check our safety and security section for more details.

Immerse yourself in the action! Search for ‘World Gymnastics 2022 LIVE’ on IOS and Android store and download it before travelling to the venue, to take part in audience light shows and activities that will be happening alongside the Gymnastics!

Getting to the event

Liverpool Lime Street is the nearest mainline station to the M&S Bank Arena. It is about a 20-minute walk using our preferred walking route for the event, or you can transfer to the Merseyrail underground Wirral Line for services to James Street Station which is a 10-minute walk to the venue. Your mainline rail tickets can be purchased to include through journeys on the underground to James Street Station. Taxis are also available.
There is also a park and ride option, with free parking at more than 40 stations across the Merseyrail network. So rather than drive into a potentially busy city centre why not park at one of the stations and catch the train the rest of the way – click here for details.
The CityLink bus service also runs a circular route around the city which stops at both Lime Street and M&S Bank Arena. Tickets can be bought on the bus.

The city is highly walkable and so, if you are able, why not soak up the atmosphere on foot and enjoy all Liverpool has to offer. As you head toward the Arena look out for signs to help you on the way, enjoy the entertainment and look out for our staff who will be in the area if you have any questions. The bus station at Liverpool ONE is just five-minutes’ walk from M&S Bank Arena.
For those travelling into Liverpool Lime Street, the CityLink bus service runs a circular route around the city which stops at both the station and M&S Bank Arena. Tickets can be bought on the bus.

A number of cycle routes are available around Liverpool and will get you to M&S Bank Arena, where there is secure cycle parking located on the river side of the venue as shown on our map of the local area.

Citybike is Liverpool’s cycle hire scheme, offering bike hire from stations across the city from £3 per day. For more about Citybike, including a map of stations and to sign up, see the Liverpool City Council website.

Coach services into Liverpool stop at the Queen Square bus station, near Liverpool Lime Street rail station.
Minibuses and coaches taking groups direct to the venue can use Car Park 2, which is a pay and display car park where spaces can be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Any schools with queries should contact info@2022worldgymnastics.co.uk
Taxi drop-off and pick-up points at the Arena are located a short walk from the entrance. For those travelling by train, there are well-signed taxi ranks at either end of the Liverpool Lime Street building.
Please consider using public transport or other sustainable travel options if possible. However if car is your best option, please check out the information below. Those requiring accessible parking/drop-off advice should refer to the accessible travel section below.
When travelling by car, please use postcode L3 4BX or “that.having.spoon” on What3Words. The Kings Dock Car Park and all other on-site parking is signposted 'Waterfront' on the city-wide 'available spaces' signage. There are 1,450 parking spaces available in the Kings Dock Car Park on a first-come, first-served basis, with electric charging points on every floor. Parking prices are available here.
There is also a park and ride option, with free parking at more than 40 stations across the Merseyrail network. So rather than drive into a potentially busy city centre why not park at one of the stations and catch the train the rest of the way – click here for details.
If travelling from the south, leave the M6 at junction 21A and take the M62 to Liverpool. At the end of the M62, follow signs for Liverpool City Centre along Edge Lane, before picking up and following the brown-on-white tourist route signs for the Waterfront.
If travelling from the Wirral, Wales & M53, leave the M53 motorway at junction 3 (signposted Birkenhead) and follow the A552 for the Birkenhead (Queensway) Tunnel and Liverpool City Centre. Exit the tunnel via the George's Dock Gates/A5036 exit and turn left along The Strand.
If travelling from the north, leave the M6 at junction 26 and follow signs for M58 Liverpool. Continue to the end of the M58 and then follow signs for A59 Liverpool. Continue to follow signs for Liverpool City Centre, until brown-on-white tourist route signs for the Waterfront appear.
Those dropping off spectators can do so at Keel Wharf, outside the Arena.
Liverpool John Lennon Airport is one of the UK’s busiest, with flights to and from around 75 destinations across the UK and Europe, and is served by easyJet and Ryanair.
A taxi from the airport to the city centre will take around 20 minutes, or the express bus service Route 500 will take around 25 minutes, dropping you within a five-minute walk of M&S Bank Arena.
Manchester Airport has an even more extensive network of flights, with America and the Far East being served by direct flights. It is 45 minutes away from Liverpool via the motorway network.
For those travelling from Wirral, the ferry is a great way to get to the venue and enjoy the Mersey, seeing some of the sights at the same time. Additional information on operational terminals and timetables is available here.

Chargeable accessible parking bays are available in the on-site Kings Dock Car Park (see travelling by car above for directions, or use “that.having.spoon” on What3Words). Free blue badge spaces are available on-street around Liverpool; take a look here to find out where.
A vehicle drop-off and pick-up point (including for taxis) , is available on Keel Wharf, which is a short distance from the Arena.
If travelling by train there is a well-signed taxi pick-up/drop-off available at either end of the Liverpool Lime Street Station building, and the taxi drop-off and pick-up point at the Arena is a short distance to the building entrance. Or if you are able, the Arena is a well-signed one-mile walk, with level-access pavements and crossings at every point.
A free shuttle bus will also be run during the event between Lime Street Station and the venue exclusively for those with accessibility requirements. It will run every 30 minutes from 90 minutes before each session. It will commence again about 60 minutes prior to the end of each session and run, every 30 minutes, until 90 minutes after the session. The bus will run from near Lime Street Station on Skelhorne Street and at the venue end will run to and from the area outside the Pullman Hotel.
Please note that the accessible shuttle will continue to run on days of rail industrial action unless the action results in the cancellation of all services to/from Lime Street Station.
All buses dropping in Merseyside are accessible and specifically designed for wheelchair users, older passengers, and parents with buggies and small children. At the Venue
About M&S Bank Arena
The M&S Bank Arena is Liverpool’s largest, most prestigious venue. Set against the backdrop of a stunning waterfront, the Arena is the beating heart of music, the arts and entertainment in this vibrant and iconic city. It is a cashless venue.

The Box Office
As shown on the map, the on-site Box Office is located on the Piazza opposite the Cityside galleria entrance of the Arena (What3Words location deeper.become.listed), and has purpose-built low-level counters. A hearing assistance system is installed on Box Office counters marked with the international symbol of deafness or hard of hearing, for customers with hearing difficulties.
Safety and security
A welcome desk will be situated in the Cityside concourse where you can collect a wristband for young children to write parent/guardian contact details in case they become separated.
There will be a team of dedicated security and stewarding staff as you enter the Arena who are highly trained and experienced, and you may also see police officers and police dogs onsite.
Please arrive early to allow plenty of time to get through security and safety checks, to ensure you are in your seat for the start of the action. The Arena opens around one hour before each session starts – for details see the competition schedule.
Walk-through scanners will be in use and you may be subject to a search, so to speed up security processes we ask that you assist staff by emptying your pockets before walking through.

Suitcases, large handbags, backpacks/rucksacks are strictly not permitted. Please note there are no left-luggage facilities on site and staff will not be able to assist in storage of bags, so please prepare to leave any luggage or other large bags elsewhere. A full bag search will be done on all bags permitted into the Arena.
COVID-Safety
To ensure the safety of all attendees and participants, organisers recommend the following steps are taken prior to leaving home to attend the event:
- Remain up to date with COVID vaccinations
- Stay at home if you feel unwell.
During your time at the event, we recommend that you:
- Consider wearing a face covering in busy indoor areas
- Utilise hand sanitisation stations around the venue.
Please respect the choices of others, including our volunteers and staff.
What you can bring
No food will be allowed into the Arena, however small packed lunches for young children are acceptable.
You are welcome to bring clear, empty plastic bottles, which can be refilled at water fountains inside, but unfortunately full bottles, or bottles that are metal or glass, will not be allowed into the Arena.
Accessibility
M&S Bank Arena has been designed with accessibility in mind – if you are in need of assistance during your session, please ask one of the friendly stewards.

Motorised scooters are permitted in public areas of the Arena and are also available to hire – please email GuestRelations@ACCLiverpool.com for more details.
Ticketed areas for those with accessibility requirements are available in dedicated level-access bays, with seats for friends and personal assistants, space for guide dogs and excellent views of the arena space. BSL interpreters will be active during each session. Please ask staff for further information on arrival at the Welcome Desk inside the venue near the Cityside entrance.
There are seven accessible toilets in the Arena, available on every level of the venue. There is also a Changing Places Toilet in the adjoining Exhibition Centre Liverpool available to spectators, which has level, covered access; stewards are happy to help you get there. The Changing Places Toilet includes: a height-adjustable adult-sized changing bench; a tracking hoist system, or mobile hoist if this is not possible; adequate space for the user and up to two carers; and a centrally-placed toilet with a room either side and a screen or curtain to allow some privacy.
A sensory room is available for those who may require some time out – please speak to our friendly members of staff or volunteers inside the venue to find out more.
Assistance dogs are welcome in the Arena, and hearing inductions loops are also available at most venue counters.

Food and drink
The concourse at M&S Bank Arena offers a wide range of eateries to cater for all diets and tastes.
Hot and cold breakfast, lunch and dinner options (dependant on session) will be available, with vegetarian and vegan choices, plus coffees, snacks and treats.
Lost and found
If you lose anything while visiting, please ask a steward. If you discover you have lost something after you have left, please call the Arena on 0151 703 7299 and the team will do their best to help.
